    About that new Portal Bridge being built with a 90mph rating. I would have thought that the future should be considered when building this bridge, such as maybe 150 or higher. Many bridges in Europe and Great Britain are sustaining speeds of up to 125mph, and could be rated higher with the right track and supporting inferstructor. So what's the problem here. Oh of note: a good many bridges in Britain and Europe were built in the mid to late 1800s!

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips 11 часов назад

      I believe the infrastructure/routing surrounding the bridge is only rated for 90 mph, hence the 90 mph limit. Also this is Amtrak, they almost never think about the future, though I really wish they would.

    Who in their right mind puts a toilet in an open space. The bathroom should be a separate room. This train car must have been built in the 1930s.😢

    $170 and 12.5 hours is incredibly expensive and stupidly long for this journey. This needs to be run as a night sleeper service with limited stops in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. It would likely only take 9-10 hours and be much more convenient. A night train would also pull in more revenue. There is already service during the day for the NY cities on this route.

    >Seattle's Efficient Commuter Rail Line Yeah right... they might be operating 13 round trips for South but ONLY 2 round trips for North route. And the route is constantly closed from land slide. It gives bad name to all trains.

    As a solo traveler the value of first class is not having a seatmate. I like to look out the window, and until recently, you could not select a seat in business. The lounge in NYC is lovely, too.

    Ok I've taken a this trip a awhile ago. I seriously doubt much has changed in 10 years. I am going to be brutally honest. If you don't mind the train whistle blowing every 15 minutes all night. If you don't mind the rocking of the train and I don't mean a gentle rock either. I mean it's actually shaking the entire bed, including your body. The sleeper compartment is about the size of a broom closet at the time I travelled the toilet was pushed up right next to the lower bunk.. I think the only thing they changed was the toilet is no longer inside the broom size closet sleeping compartment. If you don't mind walking thru the train while it's moving and having to hold on to the rails on each side of the walls to keep from losing your balance because of the constant shaking of the train. If you don't mind trying to take a shower being tossed from side to side injuring yourself from banging and slamming into the shower stall. If none of this bothers you. Then this is the trip for you. Me personally I came home with bruises on my arms, legs and shoulders. Don't say you were not warned. I wished someone would have warned me beforehand.

    If a passenger in front of you has their seat reclined, it is EXTREMELY difficult to get up out of YOUR seat because theirs takes up the space you need to get your weight over your feet. The foot rest is completely worthless for an adult with average legs. The food stinks as most airline food does.

I had the luck of flying Delta first class from NYC to Milan back in 2021 for a job that was paid by the employer so I can definitely say the the 1st class was excellent, but the Premium Select looks almost as conformable for a lot less. I will say, the PS service on your flight looks much better compared to when we flew PS from Detroit to Tokyo HND in October! We had the metal cultary and glassware for the first meal, but the meal was still the economy options and disposable plates (served to us first before they went into Comfort+), and the rest of the drinks were plastic. But it was a cheap upgrade the day of (less than $400) so I can't complain since the hard product alone was worth it for that price.

To sum it up everyone in East Asia except for Philippine Airlines do beat their Partners United Delta and American Airlines. This used to be the starting point for B747-400 MSP-NRT-MNL NW1/2 1 Northwest Airlines have a hub here. For NW1/2 it's EWR-MNL via MSP/NRT with DC-9 EWR-MSP then B747-451 MSP🇺🇲 CST via JST/KST NRT🇯🇵 then GMT +8 MNL🇵🇭
